Dahab, Egypt
By Alex Varnals onSaturday, November 11, 2006 9:35 AM
Dahab, Egypt holiday 25th Nov - 2nd Dec 2006 was a complete success. We stayed at the Coral Coast Hotel, right on the beach in Dahab. Fantasea hosted our recreational divers with dives at the Islands, the Eel Gardens and the Canyon, our divers were fortunate enough to have the warmth of 24 degree waters for the week.

Our technical divers had the pleasure of Tom from Fantasea TEC, to guide them on several fantastic dives including the famous Blue Hole Archway, a 60m overhead environment dive, that is not for the faint hearted.

Diving Leisure Invasion
By Alex Varnals onSunday, October 08, 2006 8:31 AM
Eight Acre Lake was the scene of an invasion this weekend. A Diving Leisure invasion. With 18 divers at the dive site we seemed to take over. I was particularly impressed with Allison's dedication to her recently learned skills from her AOW course as she turned up at the dive site with her two lengths of rope for knot tying practice..

Alex and Luke were busy helping Richard and Ross complete their PADI Junior Rescue Diver course. Iain, Mike and Dave worked well as a team both in the pool and open water helping Cameron and Graeme through their PADI Open Water training. Charlotte completed the first half of her training and will be joining us in a couple of weeks to finish her Junior PADI Open Water diver course.

Nick, Allison, Sharon and Shannon were superbly guided by our new navigation guru Nicole who seems to have taken to the role of guide to the dive site.

Advanced Open Water Success!
By Alex Varnals onSaturday, September 23, 2006 8:26 AM
Bowline, round turn and two half hitches and a day playing with a compass. Thanks to Nick and Chris, we now have two newly qualified Advanced Open Water divers, Allison and Sadie.

Cathy has also created a navigating guru in Nicole, who now after several weekends with the Diving Leisure gang has become a hardened UK diver, I warned you Nicole it was only a matter of time.

Advanced Open Water Dives
By Alex Varnals onSaturday, September 16, 2006 8:25 AM
After an early start Sadie & Allison completed the first three dives of their PADI Advanced Open Water diver course under the instruction of Nick Sykes with Chris Dalby as their Divemaster and Cathy Preen as shore cover.

The dives they completed at Stoney Cove were the Deep, Wreck and Peak Performance Buoyancy adventure dives. The Diving Leisure Leeds team would like to congratulate them on how well they are doing and how quickly their skills are developing.

Dry Suit Acheived!
By Alex Varnals onSunday, September 10, 2006 8:24 AM
Congratulations to Lisa and Stephen who completed their PADI Drysuit Specialty Diver Course on Sunday with Nick, Cathy and Chris at Blue Lagoon. The weather was great, which makes a change and the water was still warm.

Vanessa, Hannah and Martin also came along to have a splash, more for fun and to practice their navigation. Well done to you all. See you again soon.

PADI Open Water Completed
By Alex Varnals onSunday, September 03, 2006 8:23 AM
Congratulations to Aaron McKenna who completed the final three dives of his PADI Open Water diver course. With the help of Alex Varnals and Mike Fell, the days diving at Capernwray went really well.

We would also like to congratulate his brother, Nick McKenna, who completed his Peak Performance Buoynacy Specialty diver course under the guidance of Iain Bowler and Chris Dalby.

Nicola Noble completed part of her Open Water diver course and will be joining us at Capernwray on 23rd September to complete the course.

The Diving Leisure Leeds Club is spreading its wings, as we also had a group of divers out for the day at Capernwray on Sunday; Vanessa, Nicole, Gaz, Dave & Dave got two great dives in and saw nearly every attraction Capernwray has to offer.

Open Water Success!
By Alex Varnals onSunday, August 27, 2006 8:21 AM
A combination of training and pleasure diving at 8 Acre Lake. 4 open water students preparing for their course and a number of the Diving Leisure Leeds Club joining us for a fun day of diving led by Vanessa and Iain.

The Open Water group, including Charlotte Wilson, Aaron McKenna, Nicola Noble and Kate Barker, had their first experience of UK diving. Led by Alex, Gaz and Mike, the four divers worked very hard and deserved the signature "Sausage & Egg Butty" that Dave & Michelle from 8 Acre Lake are famous for.

The group pleasure diving consisted of Vanessa, Nicole, Sadie, Allison, Dave, Iain, Sharon, Shannon, Chris, Mark, Katrina and Mark. Keep checking the local diving section for our next UK diving adventure.....
