With PADI being a global organization, you have the option of splitting your course into segments, the most popular is to complete your pool and theory modules here in the UK and then your four open water dives abroad in the luxury of warmer climates of your choice. The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you’ll make at least five pool dives under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
What do I need to start? - Be of 15 years of age or above (10 years of age for PADI Junior Open Water Referral)
What will I do?
All the basics of scuba diving through knowledge development, a set of scuba skills in the pool that you’ll use again during open water dives, and an appreciation for the underwater world that will keep you coming back for more bottom time every chance you get!
During the course you’ll cover material and practice skills related to topics such as: - Buoyancy skills including comfortable ascents and descents, and breathing underwater
- Staying warm underwater, streamlining your swimming skills and buddy diving techniques
- Diving environments and aquatic life you’re likely to encounter
- Preventing common problems underwater
As with the PADI Open Water course you will complete between five and six hours in the pool, this being spread over a number of sessions at your convenience. It is here that you will learn the basic skills involved in Scuba Diving. Once you have mastered the skills required and become comfortable in the water, you are then ready for your open water dives.
Whilst attending the pool sessions you will have a small amount of home study to complete at your own pace. You will have your own manual, which is made up of five modules, at the end of each module is a knowledge review to complete at home and in addition to this we give you a small multiple choice quiz to complete here at the dive centre, these quizzes are just to gauge your level of understanding on the theory side of diving.
We can then provide you with a small amount of paperwork for you to present to the Dive Centre of your choice in your chosen holiday destination. There you will complete the four open water dives required for you to qualify as a PADI Open Water Diver, these dives must be spread over two days. Then the rest of your trip can be spent as much under the water as you wish.
What's included in the course fee?
- PADI Open Water Crewpack
- Equipment Hire
- Air Fills
- Training
What's next?
You may want to step up to Advanced Open Water Diver certification at your first opportunity.
